BENGALURU:
In a case of suspected suicide, a 17-year-old boy was found dead with a bullet wound to his head in the early hours of Friday in front of a BMTC bus stop near the Indian Air Force HQ Training Command in RMV Second Stage. According to the cops, the preliminary indications are that the boy shot himself with his father’s licensed revolver.
According to the Sadashivagnagar police, Rahul Bhandari alias Rahul Singh was residing at Ganganagar in RT Nagar. Passersby noticed the boy lying in a pool of blood around 5.30 am and alerted the cops. Apart from the revolver, a bag, a belt and a mobile phone were found near the body.
A Class 12 student of Army Public School, Rahul was the son of retired army havaldar Bhagath Singh. He was staying with his parents and elder sister in a rented house in Ganganagar.
DCP (Central) MN Anucheth visited the spot and later told media persons that prima facie it appeared that Rahul had shot himself. The bullet had entered from the right side of his head and exited from the left side.

Conflicting versions
As per DCP Anucheth, Rahul left his house around 3.30 am for a morning walk. He had apparently taken his father’s revolver without anyone in the family noticing, and shot himself near the bus stop. In a conflicting version, the jurisdictional police said that around 3 am, Rahul knocked on his parents’ bedroom door and asked for a photograph of himself, at which point his father, Bhagath, told Rahul to go to sleep and shut the door.
Rahul used to go for a walk in the morning and at night whenever he felt stressed from his studies. He was preparing for his class exams and apparently stayed up till the wee hours of Friday. When he did not return, he parents tried to call his mobile phone but the calls went unanswered, according to a senior cop. It is rumoured that the boy asked his father for Rs 500 but was turned down.
According to Rahul’s parents, they had taught him how to use the firearm, which Bhagath had brought with him after retirement from the army. The family hails from Uttarakhand and has been residing in Bengaluru for almost two decades. As per police sources, the parents were shocked by his extreme step as he had no family problems and was a good student, having scored around 90 per cent in his class X exams.
According to the police, CCTV footage shows the boy walking on Binny Mill Road in Ganganagar around 3.45 am and speaking on his mobile.
A case of unnatural death has been registered by the Sadashivanagar police.
