April 9 Special Train Announced Between Bengaluru Cantt and Chennai to Clear Summer Rush
Bengaluru: To manage the increased passenger demand during the summer holiday season, South Western Railway has announced a one-trip special train service between Bengaluru Cantonment and Dr. MGR Chennai Central.
According to the official release, Train No. 06545 Bengaluru Cantt â Dr. MGR Chennai Central Express Special will depart from Bengaluru Cantonment at 08:05 a.m. on April 9, 2026 (Thursday) and is scheduled to arrive at Chennai Central at 03:00 p.m. the same day.
In the return direction, Train No. 06546 Dr. MGR Chennai Central â Bengaluru Cantt Express Special will leave Chennai Central at 04:45 p.m. on April 9, 2026 (Thursday) and reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 11:00 p.m. on the same day.
The special train will consist of a total of 21 coaches, including 4 General Second Class coaches, 15 Sleeper Class coaches, and 2 SLR/D coaches, ensuring accommodation for a large number of passengers.
During its journey, the train will halt at key stations including Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Kuppam, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Sholinghur, Arakkonam, Tiruvallur, and Perambur.
However, it has been specified that Train No. 06546, on its return journey towards Bengaluru, will not stop at Perambur station.
The move is expected to provide relief to passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Chennai during the peak summer travel period.
