Kasavanahalli Residents Turn Wet Waste Into Compost; K N Ramesh Praises Community Effort
Bengaluru: Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner K.N. Ramesh on Saturday directed BESCOM and Corporation engineers to immediately remove unauthorised OFC cables from footpaths and electric cables lying beneath transformers that pose a threat to public safety, during an inspection in J.P. Nagar under the ‘Ward One’ campaign.
The Commissioner inspected works at J.P. Nagar 4th Cross, the road connecting Vega City Mall towards Jayadeva Hospital, and areas around the Mini Forest in J.P. Nagar.
He instructed officials to clear garbage black spots, keep those areas clean at all times and keep strict vigil to prevent people from dumping waste at night. Collected waste must be disposed of the same day using tractors, he said.
BESCOM officials were asked to lay large cables exposed on roads and footpaths safely deep underground and to remove old and unused cables. Damaged footpaths and broken slabs must be repaired immediately, and footpaths kept free of construction debris, broken glass and other material to allow barrier-free movement for pedestrians, he said.
Inspecting vending zones along roads and footpaths, the Commissioner said only registered street and pushcart vendors holding valid ID cards issued by the Corporation should be allowed to do business, within designated spots, without obstructing traffic and while keeping their vending spaces clean.
The Ward One campaign has been taken up in Anjanapura, Harinagar, Konanakunte, Abdul Kalam Nagar, Jakkasandra, Padmanabhanagar, Bommanahalli, Hosapalya and HSR Layout wards. Executive Engineer Hariprasad and other officials were present during the inspection.
