Bengaluru: Bengaluru South City Corporation has removed compound walls and sheds occupying six guntas of stormwater-drain land in Haralur, reclaiming the space to protect the drain’s natural flow and facilitate rainwater passage, Commissioner K.N. Ramesh said.
The recovered B-kharab land in survey number 2/1 measures approximately 6,534 square feet and is valued at about ₹6 crore, according to the corporation. It falls within the Kudlu subdivision of the HSR division in Bommanahalli Zone 2.
Clearance follows Special Deputy Commissioner’s order
The action followed an order in case NCR(E) CR/121/2024-25 before the Special Deputy Commissioner’s court, involving the state government, Lakshminarayana Reddy and others over encroachment of the rajakaluve and stream kharab land.
The court had directed the encroachers to remove the occupation and authorised the corporation to carry out the clearance if they failed to comply, the civic body said.
Engineers from the Kudlu division inspected the site with a surveyor and local police before removing the compound walls and sheds. The six-gunta parcel was subsequently taken back into the corporation’s custody.
Protecting the rainwater channel
Officials said the operation was intended to allow rainwater to flow freely and preserve the natural course of the rajakaluve. They warned of stringent legal action against those illegally occupying public stormwater-drain land.
