Bengaluru: Bengaluru North City Corporation has directed officials to complete assigned civic works and dispose of pending applications, including Khata-related matters, in selected wards by November 7 under its Ward One campaign.
Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar issued the instructions at an October 29 coordination meeting. The November 1–7 exercise will take up one ward in each Assembly constituency within the corporation’s limits, according to the release.
Departments must prepare ward-level micro-plans and have records of deployed staff, responsibilities and duty shifts ready by October 31. The corporation’s executive engineers will serve as constituency nodal officers, coordinating with other agencies.
The work includes removal of abandoned vehicles and construction debris, repairs to water and sewage pipelines, dangling-wire removal, and addressing transformers and bus stops that need relocation. Potholes, damaged footpaths, lane markings, open sewage lines and unsafe drains are also on the checklist.
The commissioner separately directed maintenance of 1,000 km of footpaths across the corporation’s jurisdiction and inspection of 18 identified major junctions. Engineers must identify problems and decide which department should carry out each task. These are directions for work, not a report that the repairs have been completed.
Public toilets, park toilets and Indira Canteens are to be inspected for cleanliness and maintenance. Officials were also told to clear hazardous tree branches, improve waste collection and check unhygienic conditions or rule violations at commercial establishments, taking action under the applicable rules.
BESCOM, BWSSB, K-RIDE, BMRCL, Railways and police are among the agencies asked to coordinate. Kumar said upkeep must continue beyond the campaign week and warned of action for negligence.
The North corporation’s week-long implementation plan follows the broader citywide Ward One campaign announced for November. The North release does not name the selected wards or the 18 junctions.
