Bengaluru: Road maintenance accounts for 549 of the 1,092 grievances pending across Bengaluru North City Corporation’s departments, according to figures released by the Greater Bengaluru Authority after the corporation’s 56th Commissioner’s Phone-In Programme.
The programme on October 16 received 38 calls raising 44 complaints. Of these, 21 concerned road maintenance, nine solid waste management, five e-khata or khata services, four health, three electrical services and two forest-related issues.
Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar directed officers to prioritise pending complaints, inspect locations where necessary and provide appropriate solutions within stipulated timelines, the authority said.
The corporation said its wider grievance system had received 2,01,685 complaints, of which 2,00,593 had been resolved. Apart from roads, the pending departmental cases included 171 concerning solid waste management and 91 relating to electrical services.
For the phone-in programme specifically, the authority reported 3,319 complaints across 56 editions and 3,126 resolutions before the latest programme. It separately put the current pending phone-in total at 237, including the latest 44 complaints.
The published phone-in figures require clarification: subtracting the stated 3,126 resolutions from 3,319 complaints gives 193, rather than 237. The authority’s post does not explain whether these totals use different reporting cutoffs.
Complaints received through the corporation office, email, newspapers, WhatsApp and social media are registered in Sahaaya 2.0 and routed through the Integrated Command and Control Centre for monitoring, the authority said.
