Bengaluru Division Records Strong Passenger Growth, Revenue Surge at DRUCC Meeting

Bengaluru, May 20: The 4th Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) Meeting for the tenure 2024–2026 was held in Bengaluru on Wednesday, where railway officials reviewed passenger services, infrastructure projects, revenue growth and digital initiatives undertaken by Bengaluru Division.

The meeting was chaired by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ashutosh Kumar Singh in the presence of Additional Divisional Railway Managers (ADRMs) Parikshith Mohanpuria and Praveen Kataraki, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K. Krishna Chaitanya and other senior branch officers of the Division.

During the meeting, DRUCC members actively participated and offered suggestions related to train stoppages, extension of train services, cleanliness, catering facilities, passenger security and other commuter amenities.

Bengaluru Division Registers Strong Passenger Growth

Addressing the committee members, DRM Ashutosh Kumar Singh highlighted the division’s major achievements and developmental initiatives during the financial year 2025–26.

He stated that Bengaluru Division carried 109.99 million passengers during 2025–26, recording a 6.05% growth compared to the previous year.

The DRM also noted a sharp rise in digital ticketing adoption among passengers. According to railway data, the percentage of unreserved tickets booked through QR Code-based ticketing increased significantly from 11.19% in 2024–25 to 29.94% in 2025–26.

Passenger Revenue Crosses ₹2,428 Crore

Bengaluru Division also recorded strong commercial earnings across multiple sectors during FY 2025–26.

The DRM revealed the following revenue figures:

  • Passenger Revenue: ₹2,428.60 crore
    (9.41% growth over previous financial year)
  • Goods Revenue: ₹351.45 crore
    (7.24% increase)
  • Parcel Revenue: ₹140.32 crore
    (4.56% growth)
  • Catering Revenue: ₹17.38 crore
    (5.27% increase)
  • Publicity Earnings: ₹15.75 crore
    (10.55% growth)
  • Ticket Checking Revenue: ₹39.68 crore
    (39.13% increase)

Bengaluru Division First to Launch M-UTS Sahayaks

The DRM stated that Bengaluru Division became the first division in Indian Railways to launch M-UTS Sahayaks, an initiative aimed at facilitating digital ticketing and improving passenger convenience.

He also highlighted several ongoing modernization and infrastructure projects across the division, including:

  • Digital station mapping through nammanakshe.com
  • Redevelopment of Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Station
  • Modernization works at Yesvantpur Railway Station
  • Infrastructure upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
  • Ongoing railway doubling and quadrupling projects

The meeting was attended by DRUCC members including G. Venu, T.J. Girish, Ramavath Misrimal, Karnam Ramesh, Ashvin Semlani, Sathisha S.C., Natarajan, B.V. Venkatesh Lad, Chinnaguttappa, Mohamad Begh, Lakshminarayana, Veerakyataraya along with senior railway officials of Bengaluru Division.
