National Education Policy is community- and student-centric: Karnataka Minister
BENGALURU:
The new National Education Policy will make education a ‘community engagement’ and will integrate educational institutions, industry and research organizations on one platform, according to Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Higher Education.
Inaugurating a seminar on NEP-2020 organized by Bengaluru Central University in association with Mount Carmel College on Friday, the Minister described the NEP as ‘student-centric’.
The Minister said, “Educational institutions, faculty and universities have to play a crucial role in the implementation of NEP-2020. Many policies will come and go, but what makes a difference is effective implementation.”

Prof Lingaraju Gandhi, Vice-Chancellor, Bengaluru Central University, in his welcome address said education alone can address the challenges before society.
On the occasion, the first multi-disciplinary college for women in Malleswaram set up by Bengaluru Central University was inaugurated and the upgraded website of the university was launched.
Athlete felicitated
During the event, Priya H Mohan, a former student of Mount Carmel College who was a member of the Indian bronze medal-winning mixed relay squad at the recent Under-20 World Athletics meet, was felicitated with a cash award of Rs 5 lakh by P Dayananda Pai, educationist and philanthropist.
