BENGALURU: Residents of the state, already grappling with rising prices of goods and services, may soon face another financial burden. Autorickshaw fares are set to increase, with a crucial meeting planned for May 13, led by the Bengaluru Urban District Deputy Commissioner.
Currently, the minimum autorickshaw fare in Bengaluru stands at Rs 30 for the first 2 km, with an additional Rs 15 charged for every subsequent kilometer. Auto drivers are pushing for a fare revision, proposing an increase in the minimum fare to Rs 35.
If the proposed rates are approved, the minimum auto fare would jump from Rs 30 to Rs 35, while the per kilometer charge would rise from Rs 15 to Rs 18. The meeting on May 13 aims to finalize the new fares and announce the date of implementation.
