BENGALURU:
The Baiyyappanahalli police station has recently apprehended five additional suspects in connection with the female fetus detection and miscarriage case.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dr. Thulasiram from Chennai, Dr. Chandan Ballal, a doctor at a private hospital in Mysore, his wife Meena, Rizma, a receptionist at a private hospital in Mysore, and Nissar, a lab technician.
Earlier in October 2023, the police had already arrested Shivanje Gowda, Viresh, Naveen Kumar, and Nayan Kumar after receiving information about the female fetus detection network. These individuals were involved in identifying pregnant women and conducting scans in a hut located in Mandya. The investigation revealed that if a female fetus was detected, it would be aborted.
As the investigation progressed, it came to light that five more individuals, including a doctor, were involved in the case. Consequently, these suspects were apprehended, bringing the total number of arrests to nine.
The accused had meticulously established a network to carry out their criminal activities. Shockingly, it has been discovered that they had been terminating approximately 20-25 fetuses every month for the past few years.
In connection with this case, the police have seized a private hospital in Udayagiri, Mysore, as well as the Ayurvedic Day Care Center on Rajkumar Road.
