Staffer at BBMP headquarters ‘owns’ Rs 4.92 crore assets, or 138% of his income!

ACB raids reveal multi-crore illegal stash of 15 ‘public servants’ across Karnataka

BENGALURU:

The Anti-Corruption Bureau’s raids against 15 officials statewide, which continued for the second straight day on Thursday, reveal some shocking details, notable among them the discovery that a BBMP Group-D (the lowest category) employee has assets in excess of 563.85% to his known income!

According to an ACB release, GV Giri, Group-D employee at BBMP’s Boys and Girls High School in Marappanapalya, Yeshwanthpur, has assets worth Rs 6,24,03,000, including gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits. When compared to his known income, these illegal assets are in excess of 563.85%.

Similarly, another BBMP employee, Mayanna M, First Division Assistant at the BBMP headquarters at NR Circle, was found in possession of Rs 4,92,35,000 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits. These illegal assets are in excess of 138% of his known income.

As per the anti-corruption watchdog, 68 teams comprising 503 officials and staff of various ACB police stations carried out search operations at 68 locations belonging to these 15 government employees on Wednesday.

“Investigation depends on the explanation from the concerned officials about these assets. Document verification work and information collecting on the value of the assets is continuing,” a senior officer said.

Details of the other 13 raided officials:

  1. SM Biradar, Junior Engineer, Department of Public Works, Jewargi, Kalaburagi district.
    The investigation found Rs 4,15,12,491 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposit in excess of 406.17% to his known income.
  2. TS Rudreshappa, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Gadag district.
    The investigation found Rs 6,65,03,782 worth of gold ornaments, cash, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 400% to his known income.
  3. Srinivas K, Executive Engineer, HLBC-3, KR Pet Sub-Division, Mandya district.
    The investigation found Rs 3,10,20,826 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 179.37% to his known income.
  4. KS Lingegowda, Executive Engineer, Smart City, Mangaluru City Corporation.
    The investigation found Rs 2,03,94,135 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 146.33% to his known income.
  5. LC Nagaraj, Administrator, Sakala, 6th Floor, Multi-Storey Building, Bengaluru.
    The investigation found Rs 10,82,07,660 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 198% to his known income.
  6. SS Rajasekhar, Physiotherapist, Government Hospital, Yelahanka, Bengaluru.
    The investigation found Rs 1,40,64,000 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 77% to his known income.
  7. KS Shivanand, Sub-Registrar (Retired), Ballari district.
    The investigation found Rs 1,37,40,835 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 198% to his known income.
  8. Sadashiva Raiappa Maralingananavar, Senior Motor Inspector, Gokak, Belagavi district.
    The investigation found Rs 3,05,05,574 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 190.81% to his known income.
  9. Adavi Siddheshwar Kareppa Masti, Development Officer, Cooperative Department, Rayabag taluk, Belagavi district.
    The investigation found Rs 1,74,74,410 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 191.91% to his known income.
  10. Nathaji Peeraji Patil, Line Mechanic Grade-2, Hescom, Belagavi district.
    The investigation found Rs 2,20,69,587 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 141.30% to his known income.
  11. Lakshminarasimhaiah, Revenue Inspector, Kasaba- 2. Doddaballapur taluk, Bemngaluru Rural district.
    The investigation found Rs 1,83,50,067 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 141.30% to his known income.
  12. Vasudev RN, former Project Director, Nirmiti Kendra, Bengaluru Rural district.
    The investigation found Rs 18,20,63,868 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 879.53% to his known income.
  1. B Krishna Reddy, Chief Manager, Nandini Milk Products, Bengaluru.

The investigation found Rs 4,82,03,049 worth of gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, sites, buildings, home appliances, land and bank deposits in excess of 305% to his known income.
