BBMP officer, cop succumb to Covid

A BBMP officer and a policeman are the latest frontline staff to succumb to Covid-19.

Revenue Officer Nataraj, 58, died on Tuesday in Yelahanka Old Town. Nataraj’s daughter, a doctor, was infected, and Nataraj was also subsequently infected. He was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital on June 27.

On Tuesday, the BBMP Employees Union wrote to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to release the Covid insurance amount of Rs 30 lakh to Nataraj’s family.

In the other case, a police sub-inspector posted in the control room was rushed to Sai Hospital and died on Tuesday.

A total of 578 policemen are currently infected in the city and 732 police personnel are in quarantine.

Policemen above 55 have been told to work from home, and the deceased PSI was at home for several days.
