Bengaluru: In a major civic action aimed at reclaiming pedestrian space, the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) has cleared encroachments along the footpaths in Dasarahalli and Bommanahalli zones, according to Basavaraj Kabade, Chief Engineer of the Dasarahalli division.
In Dasarahalli, the operation was conducted on KSSIDC Road from NTTF Circle to the 14th Cross Junction. Unauthorized OFC cables, fallen tree branches, and obstructive stones that were blocking pedestrian movement were removed to ensure safe and smooth passage for the public, Kabade said.
Fines Imposed for Encroachments
During the drive, four pushcarts encroaching the walkway were removed, and fines totaling ₹4,000 were imposed on individuals at four different locations for illegally occupying the footpaths.
Similar Action in Bommanahalli Zone
A similar clearance drive was undertaken on the footpaths along Bannerghatta Main Road in the Anjanapura sub-division under the Bommanahalli zone. Additionally, permanent stalls illegally placed on footpaths in HSR Layout were dismantled.
Senior BBMP officials, including executive and assistant executive engineers, were present during the operations to supervise and ensure effective implementation.
The BBMP emphasized that such enforcement drives will continue across the city to improve pedestrian infrastructure and deter repeated violations.
