Bengaluru: The Bengaluru West City Corporation has initiated steps to introduce a Pay-and-Park system in the Basavanagudi Assembly constituency, with City Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V directing officials to identify suitable locations for its implementation.

Speaking during a review meeting on ward-level issues and development works held in the presence of Basavanagudi MLA L. A. Ravi Subrahmanya, the Commissioner said the Pay-and-Park system would help reduce traffic congestion while also serving as a revenue source for the City Corporation.

Pay-and-Park & Traffic Management

Officials were instructed to survey the Assembly constituency, identify appropriate locations, and prepare proposals for establishing Pay-and-Park facilities in high-density areas to improve traffic flow and parking discipline.

Removal of Illegal Flexes and Banners

The Commissioner directed the immediate removal of unauthorised flex boards and banners and asked officials to take preventive measures to ensure that such illegal displays are not erected in the future.

Infrastructure & Road Safety

Emphasising public safety, officials were instructed to strengthen road safety measures and ensure the provision of essential civic infrastructure for residents across all wards.

E-Khata Simplification

Revenue department officials were directed to simplify the e-Khata issuance process and ensure timely delivery to citizens without unnecessary delays.

Action Against Garbage Dumping

To improve cleanliness, officials were instructed to identify individuals dumping garbage in vacant sites, impose fines, and simultaneously conduct public awareness campaigns to discourage such practices.

Key Decisions Taken at the Meeting

  • Ensure effective implementation of trade licence issuance as per rules
  • Strengthen road safety initiatives across wards
  • Repair damaged equipment in parks and identify dried plants for appropriate action
  • Identify and remove dangerous roadside trees and branches, followed by proper site cleanup
  • Undertake stormwater drain cleaning on a priority basis as part of monsoon preparedness
  • Ensure adequate street lighting installation and maintenance on roads

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Digvijay Bodke, Additional Commissioner (Revenue & Administration) Manjunath Swamy, Joint Commissioner Sangappa, and heads of concerned departments.
