Bannerghatta zoo reopens in ‘Covid mode’

Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) is all set to reopen from Monday, June 8, but in a new ‘Covid-conscious’ avatar.

“We are delighted to inform that BBP is reopening from 8th June as per the approval from the Government of Karnataka. The revised carrying capacity of the zoo, butterfly park and safari has been arrived at to ensure the safety of visitors,” said BBP Executive Director Vanashri Vipin Singh.

Accordingly, the number of persons at any given time in the zoo will be restricted to maintain social distancing, she added.

Non-AC buses for the safari will operate at half-capacity and every visitor will have a window seat. Non-AC jeeps for the safari with a protective screen between driver and passengers are available for family groups of 7 persons.

Tickets can be booked online at https://bannerghattabiologicalpark.org.

Protocol for visitors

i. Tickets can only be purchased online mode.
ii. To ensure adequate social distancing, only a limited number of timed tickets will be available online.
iii. To maintain social distancing, a family is considered as a group comprising a maximum of 7 persons. Each group must maintain a distance of 6 feet from other groups.
iv. Each booking will have a maximum of 7 persons.
v. Online tickets are available for the zoo, safari, butterfly park, battery operated vehicles and parking.
vi. No tickets will be available at the counter.
vii. Types of tickets available –

 Non-AC Jeep Safari Combo (Safari + Zoo + Butterfly Park)

 Non-AC Bus Safari Combo (Safari + Zoo + Butterfly Park)

viii. Battery operated vehicles are available at Rs. 1,000 per group ( maximum of 7 persons per group) and tickets to be purchased online.

ix. Online parking tickets are mandatory for own and rented vehicles.
x. Parking spaces are marked with staggered and alternate parking of vehicles.
xi. Wearing a face cover is compulsory.
xii. Your temperature will be checked using a digital thermometer at the gates prior to entry. In case of high body temperature ≥ 37.50C (99.50C) or any other symptoms related to COVID-19 in any one of the group members, all members of the group will be denied entry to the park. In such cases, payment will not be refunded.
xiii. Before you book your tickets , please check updated MHA, GoI and GoK guidelines with respect to children, pregnant women, senior citizens and other vulnerable groups. Entry will be allowed as per the guidelines. (https://www.mha.gov.in/sites/default/files/MHAOrderDt_30052020.pdf)
xiv. Visitors must report 15 minutes prior to booked time. You are requested to strictly follow the timings printed on your tickets to be allowed entry.

Facilities

i. Thermal scanning, hand wash and touch-free hand sanitizing units are available at all entry and exit points and common areas.
ii. Other facilities available are toilets, resting places, cloakroom, wheelchairs, battery operated vehicle.
iii. Stone benches are provided in and around the park.
Members of one group should maintain social distance between members of other groups in the seating areas.
iv. Groups must maintain a social distance of a minimum of 6 feet. An umbrella will be provided to each group to maintain social distance with other groups (not compulsory). We encourage you to carry your own umbrella.

We Encourage Visitors…

i. To carry face cover /masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, water bottle/ glass, snacks & lunch, umbrella. Wear caps and comfortable shoes as you are required to walk about 2.7 km.
ii. We encourage you to bring home-made food and have it at designated areas with social distancing for the purpose (JLR Hill View Restaurant & Hotel at BMTC building). However, the restaurant will also serve select hot meals.
