Ballari Chalo: Anekal Narayanaswamy Accuses Congress of Cutting ST Reservation, Diverting SCSP-TSP Funds
Gangavathi: Former Union Minister Anekal Narayanaswamy on Sunday accused the Congress government in Karnataka of being “anti-reservation”, alleging that it had reduced the reservation provided to Scheduled Tribes from 7% to 4% and deprived several candidates of opportunities.
Speaking on the sixth day of the BJP’s Ballari Chalo padayatra in Gangavathi, Narayanaswamy claimed that the BJP had provided 7% reservation for Scheduled Tribes, but the Congress government reduced it to 4%.
He alleged that several candidates had lost opportunities because of the reduction and accused the Congress of acting against the interests of children from the community.
Narayanaswamy also accused the state government of misusing funds earmarked for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes. Referring to the Valmiki Corporation, he alleged corruption involving ₹187 crore and said the Ballari Chalo padayatra was being held to protest against it.
He further targeted the Congress over SCSP-TSP funds, alleging that a party which speaks about the Constitution had diverted money earmarked under the schemes for other purposes.
Narayanaswamy said the BJP had launched its campaign with the objective of removing the Congress government in the next election.
He also criticised the government’s handling of drought conditions in the state, alleging that despite severe drought, district in-charge ministers had not visited their respective districts to conduct review meetings.
“The Congress government is dead,” Narayanaswamy remarked while accusing it of failing to respond to the situation.
