The police arrested Shankar (26), a resident of Nerige village of Anekal taluk in Bengaluru Rural, after a tip-off. However, four of his associates  managed to escape.

The accused were selling liquor at prices six times higher than the retail MRP.  The CCB police seized liquor worth Rs 67,000.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said,”Shankar and his associates had stored liquor in a house and in a car in Madhuranagar in Varthur. Based on credible information, a team of officials from the Special Enquiry squad of CCB zeroed in on Shankar.”

Patil added, “Shankar and his associates had stored the liquor before the liquor outlets shut down. We have seized the liquor along with a car worth Rs 6 lakh.”
