Bengaluru: In a chilling incident that has shocked the city, the body of an unidentified woman, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, was found stuffed inside a garbage truck in the Chennammanakere area of Bengaluru. Police suspect the woman was raped before being murdered.

The body, discovered late Saturday night, was found wrapped inside a sack and dumped at the back of a BBMP garbage truck stationed near the skating ground. The gruesome discovery was made after a local noticed what appeared to be hair and alerted the truck driver, who in turn informed the police.

The deceased was wearing only a t-shirt marked with the logo of a company named “Urban Clapping” and no other undergarments, further deepening suspicions of sexual assault prior to the murder.

Police have filed a murder case at Chennammanakere Achukattu Police Station and launched a multi-pronged investigation. Two teams have been formed—one focusing on identifying the woman and another on tracing the perpetrators. A missing person records check is underway, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being closely examined to trace the vehicle, believed to be an auto-rickshaw, that brought the body.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vamsi Krishna confirmed that the body had been deliberately stuffed into the garbage truck and noted that information from the truck driver had been vital in registering the case.

The police suspect the woman may have been murdered elsewhere before her body was transported and dumped in the garbage vehicle. The possibility of the perpetrator trying to dispose of the body at a dump yard undetected is also being explored.

Forensic teams have sent the body to KIMS Hospital for post-mortem. Investigators are relying on the t-shirt branding as a possible lead to trace the identity of the deceased or her employer, if she worked for a private firm.

Local residents expressed shock at the brutal nature of the incident and urged for swift justice. This case adds to growing concerns over women’s safety in urban areas, and BBMP officials were also questioned about security around waste management vehicles and dump points.

Police urge anyone with information related to the woman’s identity or suspicious activity in the area on the night of the incident to come forward. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
