Davangere: In a swift and safety-conscious response, Train No. 20662 Dharwad–KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express was brought to an unscheduled halt at Davangere station around 3:30 PM on Saturday, following the detection of a hot axle in coach C4, officials said.
The alert was raised by an LC gatekeeper near Amaravati Colony, prompting railway authorities to stop the train immediately for a thorough safety inspection.
A total of 502 passengers on board were safely managed and provided with alternate arrangements to continue their journey to Bengaluru. Passengers were transferred to Train No. 12080 Jan Shatabdi Express and Train No. 16507 Jodhpur Express, ensuring minimal disruption.
Additionally, food and snacks were served at Arsikere station, and help desks were activated at KSR Bengaluru (SBC) and Yesvantpur (YPR) to support passenger needs and assist with onward travel.
Officials have confirmed that upon arrival in Bengaluru, affected passengers will receive refunds for fare differences resulting from the shift to alternate trains.
Speaking on the incident, Dr. Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway, said:
