Bengaluru Gang Violence: Newly Released Inmate Killed, Police Open Fire on Suspects

Date:

Bengaluru: A recently released from jail, identified as 26-year-old Vijay, was brutally murdered in Bengaluru’s JJ Nagar area, Janata Colony, on Saturday. Police report the killing was the result of a long-standing feud between Vijay and a rival group. The investigation led officers to RR Nagar, where suspects Deepu, 28, and Arun, 27, were apprehended.

According to police reports, the suspects attacked officers with deadly weapons during the arrest attempt. Inspector Kempegowda fired a warning shot into the air, but the suspects continued their assault. In self-defense, police then shot both suspects in the leg, subduing them and taking them into custody. Both the injured suspects and the injured police officers have been hospitalized.

“Vijay was murdered in JJ Nagar’s Janata Colony on Saturday,” stated West Division DCP Girish S.

“We received information that the accused were hiding in RR Nagar. During the arrest, the accused attacked the police. We fired a warning shot in the air, but they continued to attack, and we were forced to fire again. The deceased, Vijay, a resident of JJ Nagar, had a history of involvement in criminal cases and had been released from jail just yesterday. The injured accused and police personnel are receiving treatment,” he added.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Vijay’s murder and the subsequent confrontation with the suspects.
