NEW DELHI, BENGALURU: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed public interest litigation (PIL) seeking an investigation into the alleged honeytrap case involving Karnataka ministers.
A three-judge bench headed by Justice Vikramnath dismissed the PIL. It also took the petitioner, Binay Kumar Singh, to task during the hearing.
The bench told petitioner Binay Kumar Singh, āYou are from Jharkhand; what is your connection with Karnataka? We donāt sit here to investigate political nonsensical matters. Why would politicians fall prey to a honeytrap? The state will take care of it. We donāt have enough time to hear such a petition. The Supreme Court has enough work to doā, said the court.
The bench further reprimanded the petitioner, saying, āYou have filed a petition here, but we have enough work to do. We canāt investigate such mattersā. The petitioner had requested the Supreme Court to direct a CBI or High Court judge-led SIT investigation into the alleged honeytrap case involving 48 people, including senior ministers, MLAs, politicians, and judges in Karnataka.
A minister himself had shared information about the honeytrap case in the Assembly. Therefore, the petitioner requested the Supreme Court to direct an investigation into the matter.
