Bengaluru’s first special train for stranded students from Jammu and Kashmir departed for Udhampur from Bangalore city on Sunday.
SWR’s PRO Vijaye E said, “A special train to Udhampur in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir left from Chikkabanawar. A special feature is that the passengers comprised mostly students. The train left at 12:30 pm with 985 passengers.”

She added, “Food packets consisting of 8 chapattis, pickle, 2 water bottles of one litre each, dates, cookies and buttermilk were provided to each of them.”
Only students with prior registration were allowed to board the train after proper ID verification. All of them were told to reach the K R Puram Tin Factory grounds by 7: 30 am, from where BMTC buses took them to the railway station.
