KOLAR:
Karnataka Minister of Excise H Nagesh suggests that alcoholics take their doctor’s advice and quit, as “this is the right time”. According to him, alcohol lovers and alcohol addicts are two different kinds of people.Â
Speaking to the media on Friday, the minister said the liquor ban was in the interest of the people. “Have patience, quit your addiction and get counselling. Quit drinking and be with your family,” was his suggestion.Â
Ever since the lockdown, there has been a complete ban on alcohol sales. There have been cases of wine shops being burgled, not for money but for liquor bottles. In fact, two alcoholics have died after consuming sanitizer fluid in Dharwad district.
On Wednesday, former minister H Vishwanath had said the government should allow liquor sales. He had suggested that the government should allow takeaway sales from bars, including MSIL, for two days a week.
