Heavy Rain Hits Bengaluru After Heatwave; Waterlogging Reported Even Inside Vidhana Soudha
Bengaluru: After days of intense heat, the city witnessed a sudden spell of heavy rain on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief from rising temperatures but also exposing civic challenges.
The downpour, accompanied by strong winds and hail in several parts of the city, was intense enough to cause waterlogging even inside the iconic Vidhana Soudha premises. Reports indicated that corridors across multiple floors of the building saw accumulation of rainwater, highlighting the severity of the rainfall.
The surrounding areas of Vidhana Soudha experienced strong gusts of wind along with continuous heavy showers, leading to disruptions and inconvenience for visitors and officials present at the time.
While the rain brought temporary respite from the heatwave conditions that had gripped Bengaluru over the past few days, the resulting waterlogging in key government premises has raised concerns over drainage systems and preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.
