Bengaluru/Jaipur, June 13: Three personnel attached to Bengaluru’s HAL Police Station, including a Police Sub-Inspector, have been caught by the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jaipur in an alleged bribery case linked to the investigation of a dowry harassment complaint.

According to reports, the accused officers have been identified as PSI Anita and Head Constables Yatheesh and Ullavappa. The trio had reportedly travelled to Jaipur in connection with the investigation of a dowry harassment case registered in Bengaluru.

The Rajasthan ACB alleged that the police personnel demanded a bribe of ₹2 lakh from the complainant’s side in exchange for providing relief in the case and allegedly assuring that the accused would not be arrested and taken to Bengaluru.

Following the alleged demand, the complainant approached the Jaipur unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and conducted an operation at the Gangaur Hotel in Jaipur, where the Bengaluru police personnel were staying during their visit.

According to officials, the trap was executed when the officers allegedly arrived to receive a portion of the demanded bribe amount. The ACB team reportedly caught the three personnel while accepting ₹40,000, which was part of the alleged ₹2 lakh demand.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Jaipur ACB Additional Superintendent of Police Bhupendra Choudhary.

Following the trap, the three police personnel were taken into custody and are currently being questioned by Rajasthan ACB officials.

Investigators are examining the circumstances under which the alleged demand was made and whether any additional persons were involved in the matter.

The incident has drawn significant attention as it involves serving police personnel from Bengaluru who had travelled outside Karnataka on official duty in connection with a criminal investigation.

According to preliminary information, the officers had allegedly informed the complainant that the matter could be settled and that arrest-related action could be avoided if the demanded amount was paid.

The Rajasthan ACB has not yet released detailed findings from the investigation, and further inquiry is underway.

The case is expected to trigger departmental scrutiny within the Karnataka Police as authorities await the outcome of the Rajasthan ACB investigation.
