Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out at a food storage warehouse in Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru, reducing goods worth crores to ashes and triggering panic in the area.
The incident occurred near Anjaneya Temple in Adakamaranahalli along the Nelamangala–Bengaluru road. According to initial reports, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit late at night.
Flames quickly engulfed the entire warehouse, destroying large quantities of stored food items, including oil products. Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and battled for hours to bring the blaze under control.
Warehouse Completely Gutted:
The warehouse, spread across nearly 1.5 acres, was reportedly constructed around 18 years ago at a cost of approximately ₹20 crore and belonged to a person identified as Padmaraj. It had been leased for operations, reportedly linked to a major company.
Due to the intensity of the fire, the entire structure was gutted, leaving nothing but debris. Thick smoke and flames could be seen rising high, indicating the scale of destruction.
No Casualties Reported:
Fortunately, no workers were present at the time of the incident as the fire broke out late at night. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries or loss of life, although the material losses are extensive.
The warehouse reportedly employed over 200 workers during the day, but the absence of staff during nighttime prevented any casualties.
Cause Under Investigation:
While a short circuit is suspected to be the initial cause, officials said a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason behind the fire.
Local authorities and fire personnel have urged caution, especially in warehouses storing flammable materials, as even minor electrical faults can lead to large-scale disasters.
The incident highlights the need for strict fire safety compliance and regular inspection of storage facilities in industrial zones.
