Lorry Driver Found Dead Near JP Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru; Suicide Suspected
Bengaluru: A lorry driver was found dead near the JP Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide. The deceased reportedly hanged himself using his own vehicle, raising concerns and prompting a police investigation.
According to preliminary information, the identity of the driver is yet to be officially confirmed, though initial inputs suggest he may be from Tamil Nadu, as the vehicle bore a Tamil Nadu registration number.
Police sources indicated that the driver had been booked a day earlier for a drink-and-drive offence during routine checking. He was reportedly fined and issued a notice by the police. The lorry was also seized as part of the action.
It is suspected that the driver, possibly distressed or angered following the police action, brought the vehicle near the police station and allegedly took the extreme step. However, the exact reason behind the suicide is still unclear.
Officials also stated that the driver was identified as Shanmukha, who had been caught driving under the influence of alcohol during the previous dayâs enforcement drive.
A case has been registered at JP Nagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident. Police are also gathering details about the driverâs background, origin, and possible motives.
Authorities have not ruled out other angles and are continuing their probe to ascertain whether the incident was solely linked to the drink-and-drive case or if other factors were involved.
