Bengaluru: A private bus was completely gutted in a fire incident near the BMTC depot at Chandra Layout in west Bengaluru on Friday morning, triggering panic among local residents. The incident occurred at around 10:20 am, officials said.
According to preliminary information, the bus was parked near the depot when it suddenly caught fire. There were no passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Within minutes, the blaze intensified and engulfed the entire bus, reducing it to ashes.
Local residents initially stood helpless as the flames spread rapidly. Some nearby vehicles parked in the vicinity were also reportedly affected by the fire. Residents immediately alerted the fire and emergency services.
A fire engine rushed to the spot and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. However, by the time the fire was extinguished, the bus had been completely destroyed.
Sources indicated that the vehicle had been purchased just two to three months ago by a local owner. The bus was reportedly parked shortly before the incident, and the owner had left the spot when the fire broke out.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Police have reached the location and are investigating whether the blaze was triggered by a short circuit, a fuel-related issue, or any other external factor. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
