Bengaluru ₹7.11 Crore Cash Van Heist: Court Sends Accused to 10-Day Police Custody Hours After Commissioner’s Briefing

Bengaluru Daylight Robbery: Fake RBI Officers Steal ₹7.11 Crore From CMS Cash Van

Bengaluru: In a major development in the ₹7.11 crore ATM cash van heist, the three arrested accused — including a CMS employee and a city police constable — were produced before the court this evening, just hours after Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh detailed the break in the case during a press briefing this afternoon.

Appearing for two of the accused, advocate V. Ramanappa said he filed the vakalath and a bail application with the court after obtaining due permission.

According to him, the police argued that they require 10 days of custodial interrogation, stating that although nearly 80% of the stolen cash has already been recovered, the remaining amount must still be traced and more suspects identified.

“The police asked for 10 days’ custody. I opposed it and said five or six days is enough. So much time is not necessary,” Ramanappa said.

The court, however, accepted the police submission and granted 10 days of police custody for all three accused.

“The investigation is still at a crucial stage. Let the police question them and produce them before the court again after custody. Whoever is guilty will be exposed,” the defence counsel added.

Ramanappa emphasised that his role is professional and limited to representation:
“Once the court passes an order, everyone must respect it. The truth will emerge through the investigation.”

Earlier in the afternoon, Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed that the police had recovered ₹5.76 crore so far, formed 11 teams with over 200 personnel, and tracked the movements of the accused across Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Goa. He also stated that 4–5 more individuals may be involved, based on ongoing technical evidence and interrogations.
