Bengaluru Car Mystery: Vehicle Catches Fire Near CM Siddaramaiah’s Residence, Fake Number Plate Car Seized Near DyCM’s House
Bengaluru: In two back-to-back unusual incidents in the city, a car suddenly caught fire right next to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Cauvery residence, while another luxury SUV with a fake number plate was seized near Deputy CM’s house, raising serious security concerns.
On Friday night, a Fiat Linea car (KA01ME9158, 2009 model) belonging to a man named Chetan went up in flames near Windsor Manor, close to the CM’s residence. The vehicle, which was traveling from Koramangala towards Mehkri Circle, suddenly caught fire near the CM’s house. The passengers immediately jumped out, narrowly escaping. Fire spread quickly, reducing the car to ashes, while locals panicked seeing the blaze so close to the Chief Minister’s residence. Police and fire teams rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Preliminary investigation suggests the fire originated from a tyre and the diesel tank blast, though the exact cause is still under probe.
Meanwhile, another mystery car case surfaced near the DyCM’s residence in Sadashivanagar. On September 7, police noticed a suspicious white Toyota Fortuner being towed from outside the house. The vehicle was found carrying a fake registration number KA51MW6814, while another plate on the rear showed KA42P6606, registered under Ramanagara RTO. The car was traced to a man named Deepak, who confirmed ownership but did not claim the vehicle even five days after seizure. Police have filed a case and the car remains in custody for further investigation.
Investigators are scanning CCTV footage and tracking vehicle details to rule out foul play.
