Bengaluru: A fresh wave of bomb threats targeting schools has triggered panic across Bengaluru, with at least 40 private schools, including Bishop Cotton, Sophia High School, St. Germain School in Bharati Nagar, receiving threatening emails on Thursday morning. The emails, sent from an ID named “roadkilthri3”, claimed that bombs had been planted inside classrooms, hidden in black bags, and would explode, killing children and leaving others disabled.

The disturbing emails also mentioned the sender’s desire to watch the chaos unfold and later die by suicide once the incident made it to the media. Authorities said the email included language indicating the sender may be suffering from mental health issues, citing frustration over lack of proper psychiatric treatment and alleging that “only bad people get care, not good ones.”

Bomb disposal squads were immediately dispatched to the schools mentioned, and a comprehensive search operation was launched. So far, no explosives have been found, confirming the threats as hoax emails. However, the repeated nature of such incidents has alarmed both parents and authorities.

Following the alert, several anxious parents rushed to pick up their children, while classes were suspended in some institutions.

Sources in the Bengaluru police department say this is not the first time such coordinated hoax bomb threats have been sent to city schools. A similar incident was reported earlier this year. Despite no devices being recovered, the frequency and tone of these threats have prompted concerns over lax investigations.

Police have appealed for calm but also promised that a detailed cyber investigation is underway to trace the perpetrator. The focus now also includes the mental health status of the suspect, who could pose a recurring risk if not apprehended.

Authorities are working with cybercrime and intelligence teams to identify the person behind the email, while also ensuring heightened school security across the city.
