Police inspector dropped rape victim home; she tested positive later
BENGALURU:
In a ‘viral’ fallout of a policeman’s contact with a rape victim who tested positive for Covid-19, 20 other policemen in Shivamogga district have gone into home quarantine.
Speaking to the media, Davanagere range IGP S Ravi said, “The inspector dropped the girl home in a police vehicle. Later, he attended a meeting at the SP’s office. There were 20 other officers there, and protocol like social distancing and wearing a mask was observed.”
When it was learnt that the rape survivor had tested Covid-19 positive, all the officers present at the meeting on May 16 went into home quarantine. They will undergo a Covid-19 test on Saturday. “The inspector who dropped the woman home tested negative for two days,” Ravi added.
