After 34 new cases, state’s total Covid count is 959
BENGALURU:
Karnataka’s Covid-19 count has swollen to 959 as 34 new cases and two deaths — one from Kalaburagi and another from Davanagere – were reported on Wednesday. The total number of deaths has gone up to 33 while there have been 451 discharges till date.
As per the Covid-19 spokesperson, Minister Suresh Kumar, 474 patients are being treated in various designated hospitals in the state, of whom 10 are in the ICU.
Bidar is Wednesday’s front-runner with 12 positive cases, while Kalaburagi reported 8, Hassan 4, Davanagere, Uttar Kannada, Vijayapura and Bengaluru Urban reported 2 each and Bellary and Dakshina Kannada reported 1 each.
“The state has seen 18 discharges (on Wednesday) with Belagavi accounting for 5 discharges, Bengaluru Urban 4, Mandya 5, and Dakshina Kannada, Bellary, Bidar and Vijayapura one each,” Kumar added.
With reference to the Kalaburagi death, the bulletin says: “P927, 60 years, male resident of Kalaburagi from containment zone was brought dead on 11.05.2020 to designated hospital, Kalaburagi. Tested positive for Covid-19.”
With reference to the Dakshina Kannada death, the bulletin says: “P536, 58 years, female resident of Dakshina Kannada, was suffering from tuberculosis, meningitis with disseminated tuberculosis. Earlier admitted at private hospital, later on 28.04.2020 was shifted to ICU in the designated hospital, Dakshina Kannada, on confirmation as Covid-19 positive and died on 13.05.2020.”
