BENGALURU:
Over 150 migrant women from Odisha were rescued from a textile unit in Bengaluru on Tuesday and sent back home by a train.
A joint operation was carried out by activists of International Justice Mission (IJM) and the city police after one of the girls posted a video with a plea for help to the Odisha CM.
Speaking to thebengalurulive, SWR’s DRM Ashok Kumar Verma said, “All the 150 women rescued were from Odisha and were sent home. The textile owner is in police custody.”
He added, “Following a court order, they were rescued. Under Operation Khushi they were put on an SBC to Odisha train which departed at 9.20 pm.”
Outlook informed IJM who rescued them. With a District Judge's order they were rescued and once they were at SBC we welcomed them and under operation Khushi They departed viaSBC Odisha train which departed at 21.20 hrs with an emotional goodbye and promised to resume school.
