Despite the government’s best efforts to stem the surge in corona cases in Bengaluru since the beginning of July, the city has crossed the 50K mark for a total of 57,396 positive cases till date.
In a desperate measure to check the pandemic, BBMP has demarcated as many as 13,494 containment zones across the city. As per the BBMP bulletin, the break-up of containment zones is: 4,100 in Bengaluru South, 2,368 in East, 2025 in West, 668 in Yelahanka, 1,651 in Bommanahalli, 363 in Dasarahalli, 1,139 in RR Nagar and 1,180 in Mahadevapura.
Bengaluru reported 1,852 new cases of Covid-19 on August 1. In terms of contact tracing, Bengaluru South tops with 82,362, followed by 50,884 in East and 47,126 in West. A total of 1,09,951 primary contacts and 1,34,368 secondary contacts have been traced in 13, 494 active containment zones in the city.
The BBMP war room report on August 1 shows that the active rate is 68 per cent, and 3,27,275 tests have been conducted in the city.
