Bengaluru: South Western Railway has decided to permanently add three AC 3-tier economy coaches to the Yesvantpur–Thiruvananthapuram North–Yesvantpur tri-weekly Garib Rath Express, increasing passenger accommodation on the route.
The additional coaches will be attached to Train No. 12257 from Yesvantpur with effect from October 18, 2026. The corresponding Train No. 12258 service from Thiruvananthapuram will receive the augmentation from October 19.
Train composition rises to 21 coaches
With the permanent augmentation, the Garib Rath’s formation will increase from 18 to 21 LHB coaches. It will comprise 19 AC 3-tier economy coaches and two luggage-cum-brake and generator cars.
The railway said the change is intended to provide additional berths for passengers using the tri-weekly service.
