SWR’s gesture ahead of Intl Women’s Day
BENGALURU:
To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, the Rajya Rani Express between Bengaluru and Mysuru was run by an all-woman crew on Sunday. The special run was organized by the South Western Railway, Bengaluru Division.
Loco pilot Bala Shivaparvathy and assistant loco pilot Rangoli Patel expertly navigated the train on its 139 km journey. Speaking to theBengalurulive, General Manager (SWR) A K Singh said, “This marks efforts towards women empowerment in Indian Railways and the foray of women into what were hitherto considered jobs which were out of bounds.”
He said, “In addition to this, Indian Railways will be organizing many activities from March 1 to 10 on the theme of this year’s Women’s Day; i.e, ‘Each for Equal’,”
