In an incident highlighting the hardships faced by common folk during the lockdown, a woman in labour walked 7 km in search of a hospital before giving birth at a private dental clinic.
The woman from Assam, who lives in Lottegollahalli, experienced labour pains on April 14. As no vehicle was available, she and her husband walked around 7 km from Lottegollahalli to Bommasandra. But not finding any hospital, they were forced to stop at a dental clinic.
A lady dentist helped the woman deliver the baby safely. Speaking to the media, Dr Ramya said, “She had walked for 5-7 km expecting some clinic or hospital to be open. She came across this clinic and delivered the baby. The baby wasn’t responding initially, but we were able to resuscitate it. We sent them to a hospital afterwards.”
