Bengaluru: A senior executive of Air India SATS (AISATS) has been arrested by Bengaluru Police on charges of allegedly sexually harassing a Korean national at Kempegowda International Airport.

The incident reportedly took place on January 19, 2026, when the victim, a female passenger from South Korea, was preparing to board an international flight. According to the complaint filed by the victim, the alleged harassment occurred after she completed immigration formalities and was walking toward her boarding gate.

The complainant stated that the accused approached her claiming to be conducting an official security check. He allegedly told her that a “technical issue” had been detected during baggage screening, claiming a suspicious “beep” sound had been recorded. Under this pretext, he informed her that a routine inspection would take considerable time and instead suggested a “private personal search.”

Trusting his authority, the passenger reportedly followed him to a secluded area near the VIP lounge, away from public view. The victim alleged that the accused touched her chest and back multiple times without consent and later forcefully hugged her, constituting a serious violation of her dignity and personal safety.

Shaken by the incident, the victim immediately alerted airport security officials, who in turn informed the airport police. Acting swiftly, police registered a case and arrested the accused, identified as Affaann Ahmed, a Senior Executive with AISATS.

The accused has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 75(1)(i), which pertains to sexual harassment. He was taken into custody and further investigation is currently underway.

Police officials said they are examining CCTV footage, staff movement logs, and security protocols to determine if there were any procedural lapses and to rule out the involvement of others.

The incident has once again raised concerns over passenger safety, misuse of authority, and security oversight at international airports, particularly for women and foreign nationals.
