CHIKKAMAGALUR:

Apprehensive over the infection risks due to delayedreporting of Covid test results,  the residents of  Kalasa village in Mudigere taluk have decided not to give their throat swabs until the authorities give an assurance of speedy results.

The villagers’ fear arises from an incident 20 days ago, when 14 members of a family had their throat swabs taken. The results of 4 of them came positive after 4 days, and they were treated in a designated hospital.

The other 10 members of the family were relieved that they were not infected. But all their reports came positive on Wednesday.
The locals are perturbed that these 10 persons had travelled to various places during the last fortnight and would have infected several others.

In protest against this lacuna in the testing procedure, the locals have vowed not to give their throat swabs to health staff till the government assures test results in 2 to 3 days.
