The incident took place on the Karle-Belvati road and came to light on Saturday morning. The Belagavi rural police visited the spot later.
Pro-Hindu activists have reportedly been blocking good vehicles for the past several weeks on the suspicion that they are carrying beef.
“Vehicles carrying vegetables, milk and other essentials to Goa ply via Karle village near Belagavi. The situation is tense in the border area,” said a villager.
