Flagship event (Nov 17-19) will bring together leading global and Indian corporates, start-ups and policy makers: Ashwath Narayan

BENGALURU:

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate Bengaluru Tech Summit 2021, Karnataka’s as well as India’s flagship annual 3-day (Nov 17-19) technology event, on Wednesday.

Israeli PM Naftali Bennett (virtual attendance), Australian PM Scott Morrison (virtual attendance), Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & IT, will be the guests of honour, while Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai will preside over the event.

Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, who was at the event venue (Taj West End, Race Course Road) on Tuesday to inspect the preparations, told media persons that the 24th edition of the event, which is being conducted in a hybrid format, will witness the participation of over 30 countries.

“For the first time, South Africa, Vietnam, and the UAE will be participating in BTS. It is also for the first time that the mutual participation of Karnataka and Australia through BTS and The Sydney Dialogue is being arranged. The Sydney Dialogue sessions on the same days (Nov 17-19), wherein Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make a virtual address on November 18, will be streamed on the BTS platform, while streaming of BTS on The Sydney Dialogue will provide an opportunity to show content from our participants,” Dr Narayan said. ‘India Innovative Alliance’ and India-US Tech Conclave initiatives have been introduced for the first time, he added.

Huge attendance expected

The Minister said, “BTS-2021 will bring together global leaders, Indian corporates, R&D, and start-ups from electronics, IT, Deeptech and Biotech, and policymakers driving the next wave of innovation onto one platform. The event, with 75+ conference sessions, is expected to see the participation of 300+ speakers, 5,000+ start-up attendees, 300+ exhibitors and 20,000+ business attendees, and will have an overall digital reach to half a million tech enthusiasts.”

BTS-2021 events include Multi-Track conferences, an International Exhibition, a Global Innovation Alliance (GIA), an India-US Tech Conclave, R&D (lab to market), an India Innovation Alliance, STPI IT Export Awards, Start-Up Unicorn Felicitation, Smart Bio Awards & Bio Posters, Rural IT Quiz and Bio Quiz, Science Gallery and B2B meetings.

The event, riding on the mantra of ‘Reform, Transform and Perform’, comprises deliberations on a diverse set of topics on four tracks of IT, Biotechnology, Start-up and GIAs. “We have made elaborate arrangements to make BTS-2021 a grand success as the event sessions are going to be conducted in a hybrid format,” Narayan said.

Keynote speakers

Keynote speakers include Martin Schroeter, CEO, Kyndryl, Prof Klaus Schwab, Founder and Chairman, World Economic Forum, Dr Siddhartha Mukherjee, Indian-American Physician, Priya Balasubramaniam, Vice-President, Operations, Apple Inc, Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India, Gaven Standon, Executive Partner-Ecosystem, Telstra, and Gil Shwed, Founder and CEO, Checkpoint. Chetan Bhagat, Indian author and columnist, will deliver a plenary talk on November 19.

Highlighting sessions include ‘Deepening India-Australia ties in tech & innovation’, ‘Healthcare & Medical Technology’, and ‘Digital Health in Finland: Developing AI and VR tools to support the growth of health technology businesses’.

GIA sessions will throw light on issues of cyber security and related research applications, digital trust in a post-pandemic world, Driving Next with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, developing Artificial Intelligence and Visual Reality tools for developing health care technology. Virtual booths set up by Australia, Pennsylvania, the UK, Toronto Business Development Centre, NRW, and the US will be part of the event.
