Bengaluru, May 26, 2026: Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday urged the public to make use of Finerenone tablets and adult vaccination programmes launched at Sir C.V. Raman General Hospital in Bengaluru.

Speaking after inaugurating the vaccination programme and newly developed special and semi-special wards at the hospital, the minister said providing high-quality healthcare facilities in government hospitals remains the government’s top priority.

Responding to public demand, the hospital has now introduced five special wards and seven semi-special wards to improve facilities for in-patients, he said.

Dinesh Gundu Rao highlighted that people suffering from Type-2 diabetes often develop complications related to the kidneys, heart and retina, but many patients remain unaware of these risks.

He said Finerenone tablets can help reduce heart-related deaths and control kidney complications among diabetic patients.

“We are providing these tablets free of cost. Type-2 diabetes patients should utilise this benefit,” the minister said.

The Health Minister also launched an adult vaccination programme with CSR support and stressed the importance of preventive healthcare.

He said the Pneumococcal vaccine should be taken by people above 65 years of age as it helps prevent infectious diseases and is especially useful for people suffering from heart ailments or those with weakened immunity.

Dinesh Gundu Rao further said the flu vaccine can be taken by individuals between six months and 65 years of age and helps protect against 18 different virus strains.

“With the monsoon season beginning, taking the flu vaccine can help protect people from several illnesses and reduce hospital admissions,” he said.

He added that the vaccine would be particularly beneficial for people suffering from respiratory illnesses.

During his visit, the minister also interacted with patients and their relatives in various hospital departments to review treatment facilities and public feedback.

He announced that additional facilities, including MRI services and staff recruitment, would soon be introduced at the hospital.
