Bommai says govt looking into corruption allegations made in contractors’ letter to PM Modi

BENGALURU:

Two committees headed by retired judges will be constituted to scrutinise tender estimates and conditions in accordance with the decision taken by the state cabinet, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons, he said, “The Chief Secretary has been instructed to take appropriate action if any irregularities have been committed in the tender process. I have called for special scrutiny of the tenders which have been finalised after I assumed office as CM. I have ordered introduction of a system that generates bills automatically based on the work executed by contractors and their seniority. Tenders should be completed within the set timeframe as any delay gives scope for suspicion.”

Referring to a recent letter on official corruption written by contractors to the Prime Minister, the CM said that even though the letter does not contain any specific information, a probe has been ordered to ensure transparency.
