DAVANAGERE: Two people suffocated to death after a fire broke out in a house at Kayipete in the city on Monday night due to an electrical short circuit. The deceased were identified as Vimala (75) and Kumar (35).
The fire broke out in the house of local BJP leader M Rudramuniswamy when all the occupants of the house were asleep. When thick smoke engulfed the house, everyone rushed outside.
However Vimala and Kumar, relatives of Rudramuniswamy, were inside a locked room and firefighters broke open the door to rescue them. However, both died enroute hospital.
The Fire and Emergency Services Personnel managed put out the fire. However, all the household articles in the three-bedroom house, including electrical and electronic gadgets, were completely destroyed. The incident occurred on Basavanagar police limits.
