Bengaluru: In a significant anti-corruption operation, two engineers from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) were apprehended by Lokayukta officials on Wednesday while accepting a bribe of ₹5 lakhs.
The engineers, Madhava Rao, 40 years, AEE, from the Hebbal sub-division and Surendra, AE, RMV Extention sub-division, were caught in the act while receiving the bribe from an individual. Lokayukta officials seized the money and took the engineers into custody.
The duo had demanded a total bribe of ₹10 lakhs from a person named Sanjay in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC). They were caught red-handed while accepting the initial installment of ₹5 lakhs.
The Lokayukta police have registered a case in connection with this incident and are currently conducting an investigation.
