Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching road accident, a mother and her eight-year-old son lost their lives after being run over by a private college bus in Bengaluru on Monday morning.

The tragic incident occurred at around 6.50 am on Viveknagar Main Road, within the limits of the Ashok Nagar Traffic Police Station. The victims have been identified as Sangeeta (38) and her son Partha (8).

Sangeeta was employed as an Aaya at Army Public School ASC & Centre, and her son Partha was a Class 4 student at the same school. Both were heading to school together when the accident took place.

According to preliminary information, a private college bus allegedly rammed into them at high speed, killing both the mother and child on the spot. The impact was so severe that their belongings, including footwear and school items, were scattered across the road, leaving passers-by in shock.

Eyewitnesses said the road often witnesses heavy movement of school buses and corporate vehicles, and locals have repeatedly raised concerns over poor road design, lack of safety measures, and rash driving by private buses.

The bodies were shifted to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and to fix responsibility. The private school bus involved in the accident has been traced, and further legal action is expected.
