BENGALURU: In a devastating incident in Bengaluru, a viaduct collapse near Kogilu Cross resulted in the tragic death of auto driver Qasim Saab. The negligence during metro construction work led to this unfortunate event, which occurred as Saab was transporting a passenger towards Nagawara.
The incident took place around 12:05 am, with the viaduct, a large cement wall intended for metro barrier construction, being transported on an 18-wheeler truck for the Airport route. The truck split into two while navigating a turn at Kogilu Cross, causing the viaduct to collapse.
Tragically, the viaduct fell onto the auto next to the lorry, leading to Saab’s untimely death. While the passenger managed to escape narrowly, Saab was unable to exit the auto in time, resulting in a fatal outcome. The auto was completely destroyed in the process.
This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures and vigilance in construction projects to prevent such tragedies from occurring. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Qasim Saab during this difficult time.
