Suspects in Rameshwaram Cafe blast case brought to Bengaluru on remand

BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has brought two prime suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case to the city from Kolkata on transit remand, according to police sources.

Both individuals will undergo a routine medical examination before being presented before the NIA court in Bengaluru.

A court in Kolkata granted a 3-day transit remand to the suspects on Friday, allowing the NIA to transfer them to the Karnataka capital.

Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa were arrested by the NIA in Kolkata for their alleged involvement in the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1, which resulted in injuries to 10 people.

The NIA claims that Shazib planted the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the cafe, while Taahaa was the mastermind behind the attack.

Last month, the NIA announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for information leading to the arrest of these two suspects.

The explosion occurred at the cafe located on ITPL Road, Brookefield, Bengaluru, on March 1, prompting the NIA to take over the investigation on March 3.
