5,483 new positive cases statewide on Friday, but also recovery of 3,130 patients

BENGALURU:

Friday, which marked the Varamahalakshmi festival, has given some sort of relief to Karnataka as the state saw the highest-ever recovery of 3,130 patients in a single day. On the dark side, the state reported another 5,000-plus positive cases with 84 deaths. Meanwhile, the fatality rate in Bengaluru has also tapered, with only 20 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

As per the bulletin released by the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare department, Bengaluru reported the highest recovery rate statewide on Friday with 1,113 patients discharged. Other discharges were 302 in Mysuru, 237 in Yadgiri, 193 in Bengaluru Rural, and 148 each in Kalaburagi and Ballari. So far, 49,788 people have been discharged from hospitals. There are still 72,005 cases active in the state.

Friday reported 5,483 fresh cases statewide, taking the total infection count to 1,24,115.

The bulletin reported 84 deaths, which takes the total fatalitied to 2,314. Apart from Bengaluru, 10 deaths are reported from Dakshina Kannada district followed by 7 in Dharwad, 6 in Kalaburagi and 5 each in Belagavi and Mysuru.

Bengaluru now has 55,544 positive cases of which 37,618 cases are active. A total of 16,896 people have been cured so far in the state capital. Bengaluru has reported a death toll to 1,029 till date.
